March 2021 Challenge

2021 is a month of challenges! Check out my previous posts: February 2021 Monthly Challenge or How to Strengthen your Will: One Year, Month by Month Challenge. March challenge:

  • 17/20 Meals
  • Meditate
  • Workout 3x per week

“You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine”

John Maxwell

The beginning of a month is a great time to start a new goal, this means we have 12 opportunities a year! But there is no need to wait until next month, now is not too late, now is perfect! Start now.

We all fail. The important thing is to try day to day and month by month to be better than the day before. If we are successful on some items, this means we did it! If that item is something you would like to keep long-term and turn into a habit, then try to add it to next month’s challenge. If you need a break, then take a break, start the challenge again 2 months from now. There is no rule set in stone. Do what works for you.

Here is a summary of the accomplishments and failures from last month’s challenge:

February 2021 Challenge Recap

No coffee, only tea

This was the easiest one. I completely removed coffee from my daily morning routine and was able to successfully say no to my cravings for decaf in the afternoon or evening.

Achievement: Today March 1st, I was able to get super mega energized with only 1 cup of coffee compared to over 3 cups before the challenge. The craving is not that intense in the afternoon and the overall intake for my body is less.

Is there a food item that you want to stop eating? Can you stop eating it for one month and substitute it with something healthy?

No TV Sunday to Thursday

I was not able to be perfect here but the overall goal was achieved. The SuperBowl 2021 got in the way plus a few other days that I turned the TV on autopilot but turned it off immediately.

Achievement: I was able to open up more time in my evening to write. Additionally, I went to bed earlier and slept 8 hours at least every single night. Waking up at 5 am is easier when you go to bed earlier and bank 8 hours of rest.

Write 2 posts per week

I officially posted 7 articles but the last one had over 1000 words and took the equivalent time of 2 posts.

Achievement: Created a new cadence and habit of content creation for this website.

March 2021 Challenge

17/20 Meals

The Magnus Method is a great resource to learn more about 17/20 meals. Basically, you need to eat healthy and on point for 17 out of 20 meals. Meals include snacks. There are 5 meals in 1 day: breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. This means that for 4 straight days, only 3 meals are available to eat anything you like and still enjoy life.

This will be my motivation to snack healthier, eat less popcorn and chips.

Meditate

“If you don’t have 10 minutes for your life, you don’t have a life”

Tony Robins

5 minutes of mediation after work. The goal is to create a new habit and see how I feel during this month.

Workout 3x per week

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. There should be enough room within the week to be flexible and still achieve the goal if I can’t workout on a specific day of the week.

What is your plan for this third month of the year? What do you want to accomplish to improve your quality of life, finances or health?
